Petunia
Petunia is one of the most commonly used flowering annuals in gardens and main streets due to its long blooming season and wide variety of colors.
Flowers:
Petunia blooms may be single-petaled, almost round in shape and the most widespread, or double-petaled. All varieties are rich in colors such as white, red, blue, purple, pink, and many other multi-colored combinations.
Cultivation:
Petunia grows best in sunny locations with moderate temperatures. It can be planted in large garden beds or hanging baskets from the beginning of autumn to early spring.
Types of Petunia:
• Petunia Grandiflora:
Characterized by large flowers and is the most widely cultivated and popular type. The plant is upright, reaching a height of 25–35 cm, with a spread of 25–30 cm, and flower diameter ranging between 8–12 cm depending on the variety.
• Petunia Multiflora:
This type has smaller flowers but produces more blooms with a compact plant structure. It grows up to 25 cm in height, and the flower diameter ranges from 2.5–4 cm.
• Petunia Milliflora:
Known for its small, dense flowers. The plant reaches about 25 cm in height, with flower diameters between 2.5–4 cm. It is a trailing type that can reach over 1 meter in length by the end of the season, making it ideal for hanging baskets and containers. Planted based on demand.
• Spreading Petunia:
A very attractive trailing variety with flowers about 5 cm in diameter. The plant can reach 1.5 meters in length by the end of the season depending on the cultivar. It is very suitable for hanging baskets and containers and is planted upon request.
